I am highly interested in the mural opportunity at Amaryllis Park Place and the chance to bring my work to Sarasota, connect with the community, and contribute beauty the Newtown nieghborhood. I love the theme “Where Home Takes Root”. Home means a place of safety, and a place to grow. This can shift and evolve over a person's life and have different meanings. Florida and Texas are both home to me. Where my family is will always be my heart and my home. At the same time home can also be a new beginning and a place for people to grow into. I want this design to symbolize all the these things. My artistic practice blends traditional brush painting and spray painting with large-scale mural techniques, allowing me to create work that feels painterly, detailed, and approachable at scale and eye catching from a distance. I’m especially drawn to painting local environments, and flora & fauna so the Amaryllis Flower is especially appealing. Creating a mural in Sarasota will be so special to me. When I lived full time in Florida I studied and worked as an Occupational Therapist Assistant at a Nursing home and home health. I completed art projects with my patients and painted canvas when I could, never knowing I would become a muralist. I had to leave and establish roots in a different city to rediscover myself, which ultimately led me to becoming a full time muralist. Now as I return to Florida, in a new chapter of my life, I'm excited to establish a creative path here as well. This has given me a deeper understanding of what home is, it's not only where you live but feeling aligned and rooted within yourself. To bring art here and spend more time with my family, and give my daughter more time with her grandparents truly feels like a full circle moment. I would be so honored to create a piece here. I also believe in the importance of affordable housing and giving older generations a place to call home. Thank you!
